Ghibli Park Premium vs Standard Ticket: Which Areas You Actually Get

Last checked: October 11, 2026, against the official Ghibli Park website. Prices and ticket types can change, so please confirm on the official Ghibli Park ticket page before buying. Key takeaways

  • Premium covers all 5 areas. Standard covers 3 and leaves out Dondoko Forest (the Totoro house) and Hill of Youth.
  • Adult prices: Premium 7,300 yen (weekday) and 7,800 yen (weekend); Standard 3,300 and 3,800 yen.
  • Three Valley of Witches buildings are included with Premium. With Standard they need separate same-day tickets, priced from 400 yen.
  • If the Totoro house matters to you, choose Premium.
Ghibli Park areas covered by each ticket type

When you buy Ghibli Park tickets from outside Japan, you will see two options: Premium and Standard. The names sound like a small upgrade, but the difference is large. One of them does not let you into the area with Satsuki and Mei’s House, the Totoro house.

This guide explains exactly what each ticket includes, what it costs, and how to choose. If you have not yet figured out how and when to buy, start with our step-by-step guide to buying Ghibli Park tickets from overseas.

The short answer

  • Choose Premium if you want to see all five areas, or if the Totoro house matters to you.
  • Choose Standard only if you are happy with three areas, or if Standard is all you can get for your date.

Which areas are included?

Ghibli Park has five areas. Here is how they split between the two tickets:

Area Premium Standard
Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse Yes Yes
Mononoke Village Yes Yes
Valley of Witches Yes Yes
Dondoko Forest (Satsuki and Mei’s House) Yes No
Hill of Youth (including the World Emporium) Yes No

The key point: Standard does not include Dondoko Forest or Hill of Youth. If you were hoping to see the Totoro house, Standard will not get you in.

The Valley of Witches buildings

This is the detail most guides miss. Inside Valley of Witches, three buildings need their own admission:

Building Adult Child
Okino Residence 400 yen 200 yen
Howl’s Castle 1,000 yen 500 yen
The House of Witches 400 yen 200 yen
  • With Premium, you can enter all of these buildings with no extra ticket.
  • With Standard, you must buy same-day tickets on the day. They are sold near the Ticket Truck in Valley of Witches. Exchange vouchers showing a sale time are handed out at 10:00 on weekdays (9:00 on weekends and holidays), first come, first served, and tickets can be limited or sold out.

If Howl’s Castle is a must-see for you, the real price gap between Standard and Premium is smaller than it looks, and same-day tickets are limited.

Who should choose which?

Premium is the better choice if:

  • The Totoro house is the main reason you are visiting
  • You want to see the whole park in one trip
  • You want to enter the Valley of Witches buildings without relying on same-day tickets
  • You are traveling a long way and may not return

Standard may be enough if:

  • You mostly want the Grand Warehouse, which has the exhibits, cinema and shops
  • You are interested in Mononoke Village or the outside of Valley of Witches
  • You are on a tight budget
  • Premium is not available for your date and you would rather go than skip it

Things that are the same for both tickets

  • Release date: both go on sale two months ahead, on the 10th at 14:00 Japan time (JST).
  • Changes and refunds: date, time, ticket type and quantity cannot be changed or refunded, and lost tickets are not reissued.
  • Purchase limit: up to 6 tickets at one time, and each ticket type can be purchased once per month.
  • Grand Warehouse entry time: you must pick an entry time. Enter no later than one hour after it. Early entry is not allowed.
  • Resale: purchases for resale or transfer, including gifts, are strictly prohibited. Identification may be checked at entry.

A note on availability

A travel site reported in August 2026 that Premium tickets were hard to find for some months, while Standard was available. This is a secondary report and may no longer be accurate. Availability changes with every sale, so check the sales channels yourself. If you can only get Standard, decide ahead of time whether it still fits your plans.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upgrade from Standard to Premium at the park? Tickets cannot be purchased at the park, and the official page does not list an upgrade. Plan on buying the right ticket in advance.

Are children charged less? Yes. Children aged 4 to 12 have a reduced price, and ages 0 to 3 are free.

Is there a ticket for just the Totoro house? The overseas ticket page lists only Premium and Standard day passes.

Which one should I buy if I am unsure? If you can get it and afford the difference, buy Premium. It removes the risk of missing the area you came for.
