Central Japan Guide is an independent travel blog about the Chubu region of Japan: Nagoya, Aichi, Gifu, Ishikawa and the places in between.

Who writes this site

I live in Aichi Prefecture, in the middle of Japan. Most English-language travel content focuses on Tokyo and Kyoto, but the area where I live has castles, museums, great food, mountain towns and one of the most talked-about attractions in the country, Ghibli Park. Information in English is often thin, outdated or hard to find, so I started writing the guides I wished existed.

My background is in chemistry, and I enjoy video games and travel. You will see that influence in how I explain things: I like checking details, explaining why something works the way it does, and being honest about what I could and could not verify.

What you will find here

  • Practical guides to Nagoya and the surrounding region
  • Ticket, pass and transport explanations written for first-time visitors
  • Food and sightseeing guides, from Nagoya meshi to day trips to Ise, Inuyama and Kanazawa
  • Updates when rules, prices or schedules change
  • Notes from my own visits, clearly marked as personal experience

How I keep information accurate

  • I include the date each guide was last checked.
  • I link to official sources wherever I can and say clearly when something comes from a secondary source.
  • Prices, schedules and rules in Japan change often, so please confirm important details on the official website before you travel.
