LEGOLAND Japan Rules and Tips: What to Know Before You Go
Last checked: October 14, 2026, against the official LEGOLAND Japan website. Rules, hours and closures can change, so please confirm on the official website before you go. LEGOLAND Japan is built around children, and the rules reflect that. A few of them surprise first-time visitors: children need an adult companion, outside food is mostly not allowed, and some attractions close for set periods during the year.
This guide covers the rules from the official site and adds tips from visits by the author of this site, who lives in Aichi.
Key takeaways
- Children aged 12 and under need to be accompanied by someone aged 16 or older.
- Outside food and drinks are generally not allowed. A small water bottle that fits in your bag is fine.
- Tripods and monopods are not allowed.
- Some attractions are closed in November 2026. Check the official closure page.
- Weekdays are quiet. Golden Week and the school holidays are crowded.

Rules from the official site
- Age and accompaniment. The park is aimed at children aged 2 to 12. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by someone who is at least 16 years old.
- Food and drink. Outside food and drinks are generally prohibited, including bottled or canned drinks, alcohol, lunch boxes, rice balls and other snacks. Baby food and lunch boxes for guests with food allergies are allowed, and should be shown at security. A water bottle or thermos small enough to fit in your bag is allowed.
- Photography equipment. Tripods and monopods are not allowed in the park.
- Wagons and tricycles. Outdoor wagons and hand-pedaled tricycles are not permitted, for safety.
- Times can change. The official site says that times, schedules and activities are subject to change without notice.
Closures and restrictions
The official closure page lists these for 2026:
- Rebuild the World Center: closed from November 4 to November 19.
- Lost Kingdom Adventure: closed from November 9 to November 13.
- Lloyd’s Spinjitzu Spinners: closed for the time being, with no end date.
- Beetle Bounce: for the time being, only passengers under the age of 16 can ride.
The page does not list regular closing days, and it recommends the official app for current operating status. Check the closure page before your visit.
Tickets in brief
Buy online in advance. Same-day tickets at the box office have a 500 yen fee per ticket, and purchased tickets are non-refundable. Date changes are possible once for a fee. We explain this in our ticket guide.
Restaurants
The official site offers an Entry Ticket Service for restaurant priority seating. It says this is not a seat reservation, and you may still have to wait during busy times. Check the official page for the current conditions.
My tips from visiting
These are personal experiences, not official information, so conditions may change.
- Go on a weekday. Weekdays are quiet. Golden Week is crowded.
- Buy tickets in advance. It is cheaper and avoids the gate fee.
- If you stay all day, add SEA LIFE. The combo ticket gives you an indoor option.
- Reserve the water play area first in summer. It is popular, and during the summer holidays the reservations fill up very quickly.
- Stay at the hotel if the water play area matters. When I stayed at the hotel, I received a ticket that guaranteed my entry to the water play area. Check the current conditions with the hotel.
- The hotel’s water play area suits small children, but the time is short. The official site says it needs a reservation.
- Try The Dragon. The larger roller coaster tends to have the shorter line.
A short checklist
- Your ticket, as a barcode on your phone or a printout
- A small water bottle that fits in your bag
- Someone aged 16 or older, if you are traveling with children
- A look at the official closure page before you leave
- A transit IC card, if the Aonami Line accepts it (check first; see our access guide)
