What is in the museum
The official site says the museum presents the evolution and culture of automobiles from around the world, regardless of the manufacturer, from the first gasoline-powered car to modern electric vehicles. It also says almost all the exhibited vehicles are kept in roadworthy condition.
- Automobile Gallery. About 150 vehicles. On the first floor is the Symbol Zone, with a replica of the 1936 Toyoda Model AA, the first passenger car commercially produced by Toyota. The second floor follows the story from the dawn of the automobile, including a replica of the 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen, to the 1950s. The third floor covers the 1950s to the present day.
- Cultural Gallery. According to the official site, about 4,000 automobile-related cultural items are on display.
- Restaurant, cafe and shop. The official site lists these facilities, and recommended itineraries for a whole day or an afternoon.

Tips for visiting
The official site lists these points:
- Guides. The museum says it offers a free audio guide app in four languages and free guided tours in English. Check the site for the guided tour times. You can also scan the codes on the panels with your smartphone for explanations, and some vehicles have videos. Free Wi-Fi is available on site.
- Rules. Umbrellas are not allowed in the exhibition rooms. Eating and drinking are not allowed there either, except bottled water and other hydrating drinks. Pets are not allowed, but assistance dogs are. Do not touch the vehicles or enter the fenced areas.
- Photos. Photography is allowed for personal or non-commercial use, unless otherwise indicated. Do not use tripods or large equipment.
- Weather. The museum may close because of storms or heavy snowfall.
Plan your day
- Choose a weekday that is not Monday. The Toyota Commemorative Museum is also closed on Mondays, so the combined ticket works best on another day. Check our Toyota museum guide for the closing day rule.
- Think about Ghibli Park. The Linimo also serves Ghibli Park, but Ghibli Park tickets have fixed entry times. See our Ghibli Park buying guide before you plan a combined day.
- Allow time. With 150 vehicles on three floors, plan at least a half day.
